Driver dies after crashing his car

WOODLAND HILLS - A motorist was killed Saturday morning when he apparently lost control of the sports car he was driving and crashed into several parked cars, police said.

Officials said the Porsche was traveling at a high rate of speed on Ventura Boulevard Ventura Boulevard is one of the primary east-west thouroughfares in the San Fernando Valley; as it was originally a part of the El Camino Real (the trail between Spanish missions), Ventura Boulevard is the oldest route in the San Fernando Valley. It was also U.S.  near Woodlake Avenue when it crashed about 10:40 a.m.

The man, whose name was not immediately available, was taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center Providence Holy Cross Medical Center is a hospital in Mission Hills, California, USA. The hospital has 254 beds, and is part of Providence Health & Services. History , where he died.

LANCASTER - A 16-year-old girl was killed when the car she was riding in collided head-on with another vehicle in Lancaster, authorities said Saturday.

Marchessa Vickers of Lancaster was riding in a 1994 Plymouth with two other girls, ages 16 and 17, traveling northbound on 110th Street West near Avenue K about 11 p.m. Friday, authorities said.

Rees was walking across the highway south of Old Grade Road about 9:40 p.m. when he was hit by a 2003 Chevrolet Impala driven by James B. Chase, 51, of Ojai, officials said Saturday.

Officials said Chase didn't see Rees, who had been drinking.

 - An Oxnard man was killed Saturday morning when his car hydroplaned on rain-slickened Highway 126, spun out of control and collided with a car coming the other way.

Antonio Cervantes Garcia, 54, was pronounced dead on the scene, about five miles west of the Los Angeles County line.

The other car's occupants, a man and woman age 59 and 54 from La Verne, suffered what California Highway Patrol officers described as moderate injuries.
