Former D.A. gets added to lawsuit

A man who served 24 years in prison before his murder conviction was overturned has added a former Los Angeles County district attorney and a top deputy prosecutor to his federal civil-rights lawsuit against the county and others.

Lawyers for Thomas Lee Goldstein amended their complaint Thursday to add former District Attorney John K. Van de Kamp, who later became the state attorney general, and Chief Deputy Attorney Curt Livesay as defendants.

The lawsuit alleged that Van de Kamp and Livesay relied on jailhouse informants for testimony knowing that the policy led to false evidence.
