The group Beyond War will present `And a Billion $$ is How Much?' at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Eugene Water & Electric Board training room, 500 E. Fourth Ave.

Kurt Jensen will offer a graphic presentation about what a military budget of $520 billion-plus looks like.

The presentation is designed to help people understand how even small dollar shifts in priorities could reap benefits in quality of life in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  and the country's prestige abroad.

Ecologist to discuss

Local field ecologist Bruce Newhouse will present "Oak-Prairie Habitat of the Willamette Valley The Willamette Valley (pronounced [wɪˈlæ.mɪt], with the accent on the second syllable) is the region in northwest Oregon in the United States that surrounds the Willamette River as it proceeds northward from its  and Oak Knoll Restoration" at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Eugene Public Library, Tykeson Room.

Newhouse was involved in the development of the Hendricks Park Hendricks Park (32 ha / 78 acres) is the oldest city park in Eugene, Oregon. Just blocks away from the University of Oregon campus, it contains mature forest, a world-renowned 12-acre rhododendron garden, and a native plant garden.  management plan and currently is working on the potential Oak Knoll restoration in the park.

Guild hosts discussion

The Eugene chapter of the Northwest EcoBuilding Guild will host a presentation on "Heating and Cooling from the Ground Up" at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Gene Johnson Eugene Paul Johnson (born September 18, 1935 in Clay, West Virginia) was an American football defensive back in the NFL for the Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings, and New York Giants. Canine Assistance Partners will offer a volunteer puppy raiser information session at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Emerald People's Utility District, 33733 Seavey Loop Road.
