Varied-music trio in debut concert

VALENCIA - Nirusu, the trio of Susan Allen, Nicholas Chase and Rus Pearson, will debut its improvisational explorations Wednesday with a free concert at California Institute of the Arts California Institute of the Arts
 known as CalArts

U.S. private institution of higher learning in Valencia. Created in 1961 through the merger of two other art institutes, it was the first in the U.S.
.

The multimedia performance will begin at 8 p.m. in the Roy O. Disney Roy Oliver Disney (June 24, 1893–December 20, 1971, aged 78) was, with his younger brother Walt Disney, co-founder of what is now The Walt Disney Company. Roy served as the company's chief executive officer (1929–1971)-though title name wasn't given until 1968-,  Music Hall on campus at 24700 McBean Parkway, Valencia.

For the performance, Nirusu will integrate a visual track of live and pre-recorded video into real-time improvisation.

The trio combines the diverse backgrounds of these acclaimed musicians - Allen in classical music, Chase in electro-acoustic music electro-acoustic music: see electronic music.  and visual design and Pearson in jazz.

Allen is an internationally renowned harpist who is both an alumnus ALUMNUS, civil law. A child which one has nursed; a foster child. Dig. 40, 2, 14.  and current faculty member at CalArts; Chase is a CalArts alumnus who has received numerous awards for his work; and Pearson, a master bass virtuoso, has recently recorded and toured with jazz great David Liebman.

NEWHALL - Two concerts will be staged in November at Hart Park - one classical music, the other bluegrass.

``Music in the Mansion'' will feature a piano and cello concert at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5 in the living room of the Hart Mansion, 24151 San Fernando Road San Fernando Road is a major street in the city and county of Los Angeles. It starts off in Castaic as The Old Road, passing through Santa Clarita and the Newhall Pass, where upon its intersection with Sierra Highway near the junction of the Golden State (I-5) and the , Newhall.

Those who attend will enjoy an evening of classical music in the historic home of silent screen star William S. Hart. Works by Haydn, Schubert and DeFailla will be performed by pianist Steven Schneider and cellist Jerome Kessler.

The evening will conclude with an artists' reception. Tickets are $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers, and reservations can be made by calling the museum at (661) 254-4584.

Western and bluegrass music will be performed at 7 p.m. Nov. 11 in Hart Hall at the park. The Pearce Family, cowgirl singer and guitarist Nancy Lee and local cowboy poet J.d. Seibert will perform.

Tickets to this concert are $10 and will be available at the door or can be ordered in advance by calling the museum.

Physical comedy on Nov. 6 program

VALENCIA - Bob Berky, a world traveling master of slapstick slapstick

Comedy characterized by broad humour, absurd situations, and vigorous, often violent action. It took its name from a paddlelike device, probably introduced by 16th-century commedia dell'arte troupes, that produced a resounding whack when one comic actor used it to
 comedy, will bring his suitcase of tricks to the Vital Express Center at College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation.  at 2 p.m. Nov. 6.

Using only physical clowning, the power of suggestion and a kazoo, Berky delivers 1 1/2 hours of comedy and eccentric characters.

Winner of the OBIE and the Kennedy Center's New American Plays Award, Berky has traveled and performed as a solo artist around the world. He has appeared at New York's Dance Theatre Workshop, Lincoln Theater, the Brooklyn Academy of Music Brooklyn Academy of Music, performing arts center located in the borough of Brooklyn, N.Y. and popularly known as BAM. Founded in 1859 and opened in 1861, it is the oldest such institution still in operation in the United States.  and off-Broadway with Michael Moschen.
