FLORENCE - A free car seat safety clinic will be held Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Siuslaw Valley Fire and Rescue firehouse. The clinic aims to ensure that when parents drive away, their children are safely secured in a correctly installed safety seat. The firehouse is at 2625 Highway 101 in Florence. For information, call (541) 997-9614. The clinic is organized by Lane County SAFE KIDS, as well as the Western Lane Ambulance District, Siuslaw Valley Fire and Rescue, Lane County Fire District No. 1, the Florence Kiwanis Club and the Western Lane Community Foundation. The event is important, organizers say, because the area is mostly rural with fast highways, and because there are limited child safety resources nearby. Send announcements to rgnews@guardnet.com. |
