Missing woman's body found in car

GLENDALE - The body of a missing Glendale woman was found in the trunk of her boyfriend's abandoned vehicle in the city of Azusa, police said Sunday.

Odet Tsaturyan, 24, was last seen leaving for a family party on Sept. 6. Her boyfriend, Artur Khanzadyan, was also last seen that day and was reported missing a day later.

Azusa police found Tsaturyan's body Friday in the trunk of Khanzadyan's 2005 Audi parked on a residential street in Azusa. Coroners officials positively identified her. Khanzadyan remains missing.

Policeman shot during firefight fire·fight

A policeman was shot in the hand during a brief firefight with suspected gang members in Cypress Park early Sunday, authorities said.

The officer and two others were patrolling near the intersection of Isabel Drive and Jeffries Avenue about 12:30 a.m. when they were fired at by the suspects, said a police spokesman. The officer was shot in the hand and another returned fire at the gunmen, who ran away.

The officers followed them to a neighborhood where residents alerted them to noises in a backyard. Police K9 and SWAT units searched the area, officials said. The suspects got away, but police found bloody clothes and a handgun in the yard on the 3000 block of Jeffries Avenue.

Car crosses line, driver gets killed

PALMDALE - A Lake Los Angeles man was killed when he drove his Ford sedan over the center line and crashed into an oncoming Toyota Previa minivan, sheriff's deputies said Sunday.

The man, age 19, died at the scene late Saturday near 110th Street East and Avenue Q.

Gunman wounded in confrontation

Sheriff's deputies wounded a gunman after he shot at them during a chase in East Los Angeles East Los Angeles, uninc. city (1990 pop. 126,379), Los Angeles co., S Calif., a residential suburb of Los Angeles, in an industrial area. It has a large Mexican-American population. There is a performing arts center and a cultural center. A junior college is there.  early Sunday, the sheriff's department reported.

No one else is believed to have been hurt in the confrontation, which happened about 2 a.m. after deputies were sent to the 300 block of South Sunol Drive to investigate a loud-party report, according to a department statement.

The suspect - who was shot several times in the upper body - was listed in stable condition at a hospital.

Man dies after fall from moving car

SHERMAN OAKS - A man was killed Sunday when he fell from a moving vehicle onto a freeway in Sherman Oaks, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Shortly after 5 p.m., the man climbed out of the sunroof of a vehicle moving at 35-40 mph on the Ventura Freeway just west of Woodman Avenue and stood on top of the vehicle, according to the CHP CHP Chapter

The man then fell from the vehicle and struck the roadway, sustaining major head injuries, according to the CHP. He was pronounced dead at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center is a hospital in Burbank, California, USA.
