There is no love lost between Bernard Hopkins Editing of this page by unregistered or newly registered users is currently disabled.  and his former promoter, Lou DiBella Louis John DiBella, Jr. (b. 17 May 1960 in Brooklyn, New York) is a boxing promoter. Among his past and present boxers are Jermain Taylor and Bernard Hopkins, the former of whom was comprehensively "beaten down" and KTFO by new middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik. . That was evident Wednesday when the parties got together at a news conference in Beverly Hills Beverly Hills, city (1990 pop. 31,971), Los Angeles co., S Calif., completely surrounded by the city of Los Angeles; inc. 1914. Hopkins, making his 21st defense, used to be promoted by DiBella. After they parted ways, DiBella won a $610,000 lawsuit against Hopkins that recently was upheld in court.

DiBella, who is Taylor's promoter, paid Hopkins a compliment.

``There is nothing more compelling than a young 20-something stud (Taylor) fighting what happens to be a 40-year-old man (Hopkins) who is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world,'' DiBella said.

At the end of his speech, DiBella added: ``Remember, Bernard, this side of the dais is undefeated against you, and it's going to stay undefeated on July 16.''

When Hopkins' turn was up, he didn't waste it.

``I got an incentive in this fight, and the writers know what I mean because they've been writing a lot about it,'' Hopkins said, referring to his legal battle with DiBella.

Taylor (23-0, 17 KOs) said he was hopeful the feud between DiBella and Hopkins (46-2-1, 32 KOs) doesn't get in the way of where the focus should be.

``Bernard and Lou got their thing going on, but I'm just looking forward to the fight,'' Taylor said.
