Man shot to death outside his home

SUN VALLEY - A 39-year-old Sun Valley man was shot and killed early Sunday after parking next to his home, police said.

Reynaldo Misael Quijano, who was in a 1975 Mercedes, was shot in the 7700 block of Arcola Avenue at 12:15 a.m., said Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  police Sgt. Tom Toutant of the North Hollywood Station. Quijano died at the scene.

The motive for the shooting is unclear and police are searching for a suspect, Toutant said.

Alonso Morquecho of Pacoima was shot at Kewen Avenue and Filmore Street at about 3:30 a.m., said Los Angeles police Officer Dean Vukovic of the Foothill station. Police do not know if Morquecho was in a gang.

The victim died at the scene.

Police investigate South L.A. slaying

 South Los Angeles South Los Angeles is the official name for a large geographic and cultural area lying to the southwest and southeast of downtown Los Angeles, California. The area was formerly called South Central Los Angeles, and is still sometimes called South Central.  community of Athens, a sheriff's deputy said.

The shooting in the 1000 block of West Century Boulevard near Vermont Avenue Vermont Avenue is one of the longest running north/south streets in Los Angeles. Located just west of the Harbor Freeway for the major portion south of downtown Los Angeles, it starts in Griffith Park at the Greek Theatre in the Los Feliz neighborhood as a one-lane divided road (it  occurred about 3:35 a.m., said Deputy Alba Yates of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

The victim was declared dead at a hospital, she said. No other information was made available as detectives tried to find out what happened.

Gang tie probed in fatal shooting

INGLEWOOD - An apparent gang-related shooting on Sunday in Inglewood left one person dead, authorities said.

 Boulevard and 85th Street when he was shot, said Inglewood police Sgt. Michael Bolliger. The two other people in the vehicle at the time were not hurt, he said.

No arrests had been made in the case, but Bolliger said authorities have ``good leads.''
