Donations sought for troop dinner

LANCASTER - Gift certificates are being collected to treat returning National Guardsmen to dinner at a Lancaster restaurant.

Organizer Lyle Talbot Lyle Talbot (February 8, 1902 - March 2, 1996), born Lisle Henderson in Pittsburgh but raised in a small Nebraska town, was a Hollywood actor best known for playing Joe Randolph on television's The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet  said about 20 gift certificates for $50 each at the Black Angus restaurant have been donated already and he is trying to get enough for approximately 75 soldiers.

People who want to make contributions can call Talbot at (661) 942-4209 or visit the Lancaster Black Angus at 44690 Valley Central Way.

Guardsmen from Palmdale-based Company B of the 185th Armor Regiment's 1st Battalion are due to arrive Monday in Palmdale after nearly a year in Iraq.

The guardsmen will be welcomed at a ceremony between about 11 a.m. and noon Monday in Palmdale's Poncitlan Square, on Ninth Street East south of Palmdale Boulevard.

Mall visit planned by Easter Bunny

PALMDALE - The Easter Bunny will arrive at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Antelope Valley Mall The Antelope Valley Mall is an enclosed shopping mall in Palmdale, California.

Opened in September, 1990, its buildings take up around 1 million square feet (90,000 m²). Its physical main building, parking lots, and ring road businesses encompass an area a bit less than 0.

The mall's spring festival will include pony rides, a petting zoo, arts and crafts arts and crafts, term for that general field of applied design in which hand fabrication is dominant. LANCASTER - A U.S. Small Business Administration office is open Thursdays and Saturdays in Lancaster to help individuals and business owners apply for financial aid for repair of storm damage.

The Lancaster SBA Disaster Office is open 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturdays and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays at the Lancaster Library, 601 W. Lancaster Blvd.

State and federal agencies opened the center to provide one-stop, face-to-face assistance and disaster information to people and business owners who suffered damage as a result of storms that occurred between Dec. 27 and Jan. 11. They may qualify for special loans or grants.

Participating agencies include the Federal Emergency Management Agency The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is the federal agency responsible for coordinating emergency planning, preparedness, risk reduction, response, and recovery. The agency works closely with state and local governments by funding emergency programs and providing technical  and the Governor's Office of Emergency Services emergency services Emergency care '…services …necessary to prevent death or serious impairment of health and, because of the danger to life or health, require the use of the most accessible hospital available and equipped to furnish those services' .

There is also an SBA Disaster Recovery Center in Calabasas at the Las Virgenes Water District, Building 8, 4232 Las Virgenes Road.

It will be open on Thursdays from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. until further notice.
