Police seek help in assault case

STUDIO CITY - Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  police detectives sought the public's help Tuesday to find a man who sexually assaulted a woman in her Studio City apartment.

When the woman returned home from a nearby Starbucks about 9 a.m. Sunday, the man was already inside. The suspect may have scratches on his face, because the woman fought back.

The suspect was described as a Latino, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds with dark brown hair. He is believed to be in his early 20s and was wearing a hooded black shirt with white lettering and black pants.

Anyone with information was asked to call Detectives Castro or Curtis from the LAPD's Sexual Assault Unit at (818) 756-8111. On weekends or after hours Adv. 1. after hours - not during regular hours; "he often worked after hours" , call (877) 529-3855.

Sign asks for end to movie smoking

Los Angeles County public health officials are asking Hollywood to kick the habit.

Citing the pervasiveness of smoking in youth-rated movies, county Public Health Officer Dr. Jonathan E. Fielding and statewide advocates joined more than 20 nations Tuesday in a worldwide protest against Hollywood's lack of action and silence on the issue.

The county health department on Tuesday launched a mobile billboard campaign that will traverse the county this week before the Academy Awards and target major L.A.-based studios and entertainment videos.

The billboard's campaign theme, ``The whole world is watching ... keep smoking out of youth-rated movies,'' conveys the message that Hollywood movies are seen by youth not only here in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. , but by millions of youth worldwide.

County honors rescue workers

3 teens arrested in burglary spree

WINNETKA - Three teenagers have been arrested in connection with a string of burglaries at a dozen businesses in the western San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

In one burglary they took a cash register that had $7,700 inside.

Buses to detour around Oscar site

HOLLYWOOD - Several bus lines will be detoured around Hollywood Boulevard this week because of road closures prompted by the upcoming Academy Awards ceremony, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority said Tuesday.

The Academy Awards will be presented Sunday at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue. Hollywood Boulevard is closed between Highland and Orange Drive until March 1.
