Identity-data theft leads to prison

A Nigerian man accused of stealing information that could be used in identity theft pleaded no contest Thursday and was sentenced to 16 months in state prison.

The case against Olatunji Oluwatosin, 41, was part of a ``much larger investigation'' into allegations of fraudulent access to the personal information database of ChoicePoint Inc., a data-gathering company, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County District Attorney's Office wrote in a public statement.

ChoicePoint officials acknowledged this week that thieves apparently used previously stolen identities to create bogus businesses and open 50 accounts with the company.

Ludlow targeted in investigations

The FBI and the inspector general of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority have launched inquiries into the role that MTA (1) (Message Transfer Agent or Mail Transfer Agent) The store and forward part of a messaging system. See messaging system.

 board member Martin Ludlow Martin Ludlow (born 1964) was a member of the Los Angeles City Council, USA, from 2003 to 2005. He represented the 10th district. He was elected May 20, 2003 and resigned on June 30, 2005.  played in a development project, it was reported Thursday.

The contractor for the project, a bus yard, was RAD Jefferson LLC (Logical Link Control) See "LANs" under data link protocol.

After the MTA board gave initial approval to the project, Ludlow proposed the transit agency spend $282,000 on a community outreach contract to persuade the public to support the development, the West Los Angeles

House destroyed before finished

ARLETA - A fire on Thursday destroyed a single-family house that was under construction at 9171 N. Vena Avenue, Los Angeles firefighters said.

More than 30 firefighters responded to the fire at about 8 a.m. and put it out within 20 minutes, spokesman Jim Wells said. There were no injuries and no immediate damage estimates.

Teen arraigned in knife slaying

NEWBURY PARK - A teenager charged with murder in the stabbing of a 61-year-old neighbor pleaded not guilty in Ventura County Superior Court on Thursday. Officials said Nathan Gregory Sessing, 18, pleaded not guilty in the slaying of Larry Phifer, who was stabbed to death in December.

Grades to be given on pet boarding

CALABASAS - The City Council unanimously has adopted a Los Angeles County ordinance to set up a system for grading businesses that provide boarding for animals, similar to the county's system of grading restaurants.

The pet-boarding providers will be graded primarily on the quality of the animal housing, the overall sanitation, pet health, food and water availability, food storage and animal safety and security. They will be marked down for any hazardous conditions.

Firefighters were sent to the 11800 block of West Saticoy Street at 10:20 a.m., but the fire was already out when they arrived, said Jim Wells of the Los Angeles Fire Department The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), also known as the Los Angeles City Fire Department to distinguish it from the Los Angeles County Fire Department. It is the agency that provides fire protection and emergency medical services for the city of Los Angeles. .
