Program in Veneta offers activities for youngsters

VENETA - Registration is ongoing for the Lane Arts Council An arts council is a government or private, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the arts mainly by funding local artists, awarding prizes, and organizing events at home and abroad.  Explorers Club, a program integrating arts, reading, science and math activities. The club is open to all youth in kindergarten through eighth grade who live in Veneta, Elmira, Walton and Noti.

The club's Wild and Wonderful World program runs from July 12 to July 22, and Backyard Adventures from July 26 through Aug. 5. Activities are held Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Veneta Elementary School elementary school: see school. , 88131 Territorial Road. The fee is $20, but scholarships are available. Activities, led by professional artists, include music, painting, beading beading,
n the scribing of a shallow groove (less than 0.5 mm in width or depth) on a cast that outlines the major connector. It is used to transfer the design to the investment cast and ensure tissue contact of the major connector.

Art of creating and manipulating puppets in a theatrical show. Puppets are figures that are moved by human rather than mechanical aid. They may be controlled by one or several puppeteers, who are screened from the spectators.

The program is a partnership between Lane Arts Council, Fern Ridge Arts for Youth, Veneta Elementary, the Fern Ridge Library and the Fern Ridge School District; funding comes from various sources.

Officer installations

The Eugene Downtown Lions Club recently installed its first female president in the 80-year history of the club. First Vice President Yvonne Hamson was elevated to president by past international Director Lion Ed Gear.

Other officers installed were Dan French, first vice president; Mary Fechtel, second vice president; Craig Ford, third vice president; Vic Bender, secretary; Don Jones, treasurer; Walt Curtis, lion tamer; and Jim Bradford, tail twister.

Lazar Makyadath was awarded Lion Cub of the Year; and Joy Troutman and Fechtel will share the Lion of the Year award.
