Eugene set a record high temperature Saturday of 97, eclipsing the old record of 92 set in 1967.

The 97 degree reading was the highest temperature ever recorded in Eugene this late in the year, said Jack Bohl, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Portland.

The average high temperature for the date is 73, he said.
