The event, which takes place at The Science Factory, will include a star party, shows in the planetarium planetarium, optical device used to project a representation of the heavens onto a domed ceiling; the term also designates the building that houses such a device. A modern planetarium consists of as many as 150 motor-driven projectors mounted on an axis. , discussions on space missions and other displays, all to mark a summer that saw Mars' closest pass to Earth in 60,000 years. Weather permitting, telescopes will be on hand to allow a closer view of Mars as it recedes from Earth. Amateur astronomers will also be around to answer questions. Applegate House to host Apple Celebration YONCALLA - The third annual Apple Celebration will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundayat the historic Applegate House. The free event will include horse-drawn wagon rides, children's craft activities, cider-pressing, apple-wreath making, an apple-pie eating contest, apple-themed foods, music and tours of the home.
