Events to raise money for McKenzie schools

FINN ROCK - The McKenzie Education Foundation will host a series of activities in October to raise money for the McKenzie School District.

A silent auction will be held during the home football games today and Oct. 24, and on Oct. 30 during an open house in the school pagoda pagoda (pəgō`də), name given in the East to a variety of buildings of tower form that are usually part of a temple or monastery group and serve as shrines.  at 51187 Blue River Drive. A barbecue meal costing $3 will be offered at the open house.

An additional showing for the auction will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Horse Creek Horse Creek is a stream in Solano County, California. The U.S. government has designated a portion of Horse Creek within the 100 year floodplain.[1] In particular, within unincorporated Solano County approximately 500 feet downstream of Willow Avenue and approximately  Forest Service Work Station during the McKenzie Arts Festival An arts festival or art fair is a festival that focuses on the visual arts, but which may also focus on other arts.

Science Factory event

to mark Mars' close pass

The Eugene Astronomical Society There are numerous groups devoted to promoting astronomy research and education. See, for example:
  • Ayrshire Astronomical Society, from Ayrshire, Scotland
  • Manchester Astronomical Society
  • Astronomical League, an umbrella organization of U.S. amateur astronomy societies.
 and The Science Factory will give Mars a big send-off on Saturday night.

The event, which takes place at The Science Factory, will include a star party, shows in the planetarium planetarium, optical device used to project a representation of the heavens onto a domed ceiling; the term also designates the building that houses such a device. A modern planetarium consists of as many as 150 motor-driven projectors mounted on an axis. , discussions on space missions and other displays, all to mark a summer that saw Mars' closest pass to Earth in 60,000 years.

Weather permitting, telescopes will be on hand to allow a closer view of Mars as it recedes from Earth.

Amateur astronomers will also be around to answer questions. If the weather doesn't cooperate, exhibits will be indoors.

The event runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at The Science Factory on Leo Harris Leo A. Harris (August 6 1904 – April 22 1990) was an American college football player and coach, and the first athletic director for the University of Oregon. Playing and coaching career  Parkway near Autzen Stadium The stadium is tucked between the Willamette River and Coburg Hills. The uniquely shaped bowl blends in with the wooded Eugene landscape. The shape also allows for unique acoustics, making it one of the loudest stadiums in NCAA Football for its capacity. .

This is a fund-raiser for The Science Factory and Eugene Astronomical Society. Admission is $5 or $3 for The Science Factory members.

`Harvest Breakfast' scheduled in Walterville

Applegate House to host Apple Celebration

YONCALLA - The third annual Apple Celebration will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundayat the historic Applegate House.

The free event will include horse-drawn wagon rides, children's craft activities, cider-pressing, apple-wreath making, an apple-pie eating contest, apple-themed foods, music and tours of the home.

Donations to the Applegate House Heritage Arts and Education fund will be appreciated. Directions: Take Interstate 5 to exit 150, drive west on Eagle Valley Road through Yoncalla. Just past town, you'll see the power station on your left and Halo Trail on your right. Turn on Halo Trail and go about a half-mile and turn left on Old Applegate Road. Event set for parents who have lost babies

A local support group for parents who have suffered an infant or early pregnancy early pregnancy Obstetrics First trimester of pregnancy  loss will hold a remembrance ceremony on Sunday.

SHARE of Lane County, the local chapter of a national pregnancy and infant loss support group, will hold the ceremony at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Mount Calvary Cemetery Calvary Cemetery is a fairly common name for a burial ground and may refer to:
