BRIEFLY ZINE WANTS DATA ON NUCLEAR MOVES.

  • The Santa Susana Mountains in southern California
  • Santa Susana Pass, running through the abovementioned mountains
  • Santa Susana Field Laboratory, near Los Angeles, a test facility for rockets and (formerly) nuclear reactors
 Field Laboratory was being shipped to Sunshine Canyon and Calabasas landfills, and called a halt to the practice.

Zine is also asking the three city departments to report to the council on contingency plans A plan involving suitable backups, immediate actions and longer term measures for responding to computer emergencies such as attacks or accidental disasters. Contingency plans are part of business resumption planning.  for potential accidents during the transportation of the nuclear material through city limits.

Robber hits bank, but no gun seen

WESTLAKE VILLAGE - First Bank & Trust at 2799 Agoura Road was robbed Friday of an undisclosed amount of money, and authorities are seeking a lone stickup man, the FBI reported.

A robber handed a note to a teller at 2:30 p.m. and threatened to use a weapon, but none was seen, an FBI official said. No one was injured.

The man was described as being clean-shaven, white, in his 40s, about 6 feet tall and of medium build.

2 stabbed; 4 men held in incident

BURBANK - Four men were being held Friday in lieu of $1 million bail each after a fifth man was stabbed during a fight in a city parking lot, authorities said.

Akop Tovmansyan, 20, Alexander Shakhnazaryan 23, and Oleg Azaryayev, 20, all of Glendale, and Arthur Grigorian, 21, of Van Nuys, were arrested about 12:30 a.m. Friday on suspicion of attempted murder In the criminal law, attempted murder is committed when the defendant does an act that is more than merely preparatory to the commission of the crime of murder and, at the time of these acts, the person has a specific intention to kill. .

Police said they were involved in a fight in the parking structure at 260 E. Magnolia St., in which a 39-year-old Burbank resident was stabbed in the stomach. A 30-year-old Los Angeles resident suffered minor stab wounds. Neither victim was immediately identified.

 curbs put into effect

SUN VALLEY - A half-mile strip of Glenoaks Boulevard, from Sheldon to Peoria streets, will be closed temporarily until stricter penalties for illegal street racing are implemented, the City Council decided Friday.

Barricades will go up on the street from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. for the next four weekends, said Councilwoman Wendy Greuel Wendy Greuel is President Pro Tempore of the Los Angeles City Council representing the 2nd District. Greuel was elected in 2002 to fill the remainder of the term of Councilman Joel Wachs. She was elected in her own right in 2003 and reelected in 2007. .

Greuel has proposed increased penalties for illegal drag racers.

$1 city trucks sale to help fight graffiti

The City Council approved the sale Friday of two surplus pickup trucks - at $1 each - to anti-graffiti groups in the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

At the request of Council President Alex Padilla Alex Padilla is a politician in California. He was elected as the State Senator for the 20th District of California in November 2006 and was inaugurated in early December. In order to enter the Senate he had to resign as Councilman for the 7th District on the Los Angeles City , the trucks will go the Sylmar and Sun Valley Graffiti Busters organizations to transport crews and equipment as well as be available for bulky-item disposal.

Padilla said the trucks were declared surplus by the city's General Services Department.
