Robbery victim dies from gunshot

NORTH HILLS - A North Hills man died Sunday after being robbed and shot while walking to a Home Depot last week.

Solis and an unidentified co-worker were walking to the Canoga Park Home Depot about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday when a man with a gun approached them in the 21200 block of Roscoe Boulevard and demanded both of their wallets.

The co-worker complied, but Solis did not. The assailant shot Solis, took his wallet and ran away.

Marine from Simi is killed in Iraq

SIMI VALLEY - A 23-year-old Marine from Simi Valley has been killed in Iraq, military officials announced Monday.

Marine Cpl. Christopher A. Gibson was killed by hostile action April 18 in Iraq's Anbar province, officials said.

Gibson was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force The largest Marine air-ground task force (MAGTF) and the Marine Corps principal warfighting organization, particularly for larger crises or contingencies. It is task-organized around a permanent command element and normally contains one or more Marine divisions, Marine aircraft wings, and ; Twentynine Palms, Calif.
