Landfill meeting delayed to Jan. 14

A request by Waste Management Inc. to increase the capacity, raise the height and extend the operating life on Bradley Landfill's solid waste permit was continued to Jan. 14, when the full California Integrated Waste Management Board will meet.

The request has concerned neighbors of the Sun Valley dump, who say they weren't informed of the proposed changes, which include raising the allowed height 10 feet, increasing the landfill capacity and pushing back the estimated closure date to 2007.

The issue went before the state waste board Permitting and Enforcement Committee in Sacramento on Monday. The full six-member board will consider granting the permit revision at its Jan. 14-15 meeting.
