BRIEFLY WOMAN ARRESTED FOR IDENTITY THEFT.


A Van Nuys woman has been arrested and charged in connection with an identity theft ring that stole $122,500 from a Camarillo victim in 2003, the Ventura County District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday.

Spector ordered to appear in court

Rim of Valley bill clears key hurdle

A plan to grant national recreation area status to the Rim of the Valley Corridor cleared another hurdle Wednesday, with a key House committee vote.

The bill by Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Pasadena, would give the Interior Department three years to recommend whether the mountains above the San Fernando, La Crescenta, Santa Clarita, Simi and Conejo valleys should become part of the U.S. park system.

A similar companion bill by Sen. Dianne Feinstein passed the Senate in 2003, so the House bill will have to go back for a vote before heading to the president for his signature.

OK of Los Lomas analysis delayed

The Board of Water and Power Commissioners postponed approval of the Los Lomas water supply analysis Tuesday night, saying some City Council members had questions about the report showing the Department of Water and Power will have enough water to supply the 5,800-home development proposed for the Newhall Pass.
