WEST HILLS - The West Hills Property Owners Association will sponsor a forum from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday featuring candidates for the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Valley, southern California, U.S. Northwest of central Los Angeles, the valley is bounded by the San Gabriel, Santa Susana, and Santa Monica mountains and the Simi Hills.
 city council in Districts 3 and 8.

The free event will be held at Justice Street School, 23350 Justice St.

Chamber to host candidates lunch

WOODLAND HILLS - The Canoga Park/West Hills Chamber of Commerce will host a luncheon meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday featuring candidates for the proposed San Fernando Valley city council in West Hills and Canoga Park.

The event will be at Warner Center Marriott Hotel, 21850 Oxnard St., and the discussion will be moderated by Al Rantel Al Rantel (b. October 14, 1955) is a conservative talk show host on KABC radio, Los Angeles, California. Rantel is unusual in being an outspoken conservative who is openly gay.  of radio station KABC-AM (790).

Aunt convicted in death of girl, 4

DUI slayer held, faces court date

VENTURA - Dianne Mannes, a drunk driver who killed three teenagers on the Ventura Freeway The Ventura Freeway is a freeway in southern California running from Ventura to Pasadena. A court hearing will be held today.

Details on the allegation weren't disclosed, but authorities said she wasn't driving.

County gives raise to home workers

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is the five member governing board of Los Angeles County, California. Members of the board of supervisors are elected by district, the current members as of April 2006 are:

 voted Tuesday to increase the wages of 100,000 home-care workers from $6.75 to $7.50 an hour.

The wage increase will cost the county $18 million a year and will be supplemented by state and federal funds Federal Funds

No-contest plea in fatal shooting

 - A 17-year-old Pacoima boy pleaded no contest Tuesday to second-degree murder for last year's shooting death of a 16-year-old boy near Kennedy High School in Granada Hills.

Hector Ramirez entered his plea a day before jury selection was expected to begin in his case in San Fernando Superior Court, said Deputy District Attorney John Morris.

Ramirez, who was 16 at the time of the crime, had been ordered to stand trial as an adult. He faces a 35-years-to-life prison term when he is sentenced Oct. 25 for the Sept. 13, 2001, slaying of Ricardo Lloyd.

 running back Freddie Bradley was arrested for investigation of selling rock cocaine, authorities reported.

Bradley, 32, and his wife Edith, 30, were arrested Thursday at his home after police served a search warrant and found packaged rock cocaine, weapons and money, police said.

Bradley pleaded not guilty Monday to three felony charges of possession for sale of cocaine and sale and transportation of a controlled substance controlled substance n. a drug which has been declared by federal or state law to be illegal for sale or use, but may be dispensed under a physician's prescription. .

His wife pleaded not guilty to one count of possession for sale of cocaine base, according to the Ventura County District Attorney's Office.

Greuel seeks tally of reimbursement

Los Angeles Councilwoman Wendy Greuel on Tuesday filed a motion asking 10 city departments to examine how they get reimbursed for costs associated with filming via the Entertainment Industry Development Corp.

During an EIDC executive meeting Monday, it was reported that city departments often fail to get reimbursed quickly for filming production costs because they don't account for staff hours or other costs.
