BRIEFLY WELBY WAY HITS IT BIG IN SOFTBALL.CANOGA PARK - The boys' softball team from Welby Way Elementary School ..is the new champion of the Los Angeles Unified School District, emerging victorious from a weekend tournament. The girls' team also reached the championship game Saturday, but lost, said coach Marco Thompson. There are roughly 120 boys' fourth- and fifth-grade teams in the district and 80 girls' teams, Thompson said.
