Four people, including a 6-year-old girl, died as the result of separate car crashes in the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Valley, southern California, U.S. Northwest of central Los Angeles, the valley is bounded by the San Gabriel, Santa Susana, and Santa Monica mountains and the Simi Hills.
 over the weekend, officials said Sunday.

On Sunday afternoon, a 6-year-old girl died when a sports utility vehicle ran a red light and hit the car she was riding in at the intersection of Van Nuys Boulevard and Herrick Avenue, officials said.

Five others were injured, two critically.

Shootings claim lives of two men

Two men died and another was seriously wounded in two shooting incidents in the Arleta-Pacoima area early Sunday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department "LAPD" and "L.A.P.D." redirect here. For other uses, see LAPD (disambiguation).

The first shooting was around 1:30 a.m., when gunmen in a white pickup truck opened fire on a car they had followed on Glenoaks Boulevard, officials said. Authorities rushed the passenger in the car to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where he died, police said. The driver, an 18-year-old Pacoima resident, went to USC/Medical Center in critical condition, officials said.

At around 1:50 a.m. Sunday, four men pulled up to a home in the 10500 block of El Dorado Avenue, where the driver of the car fired at a man in the front yard, police said.

The 26-year-old Littlerock man died in the shooting, officials said.
