STUDIO CITY - The Cultural Affairs Commission has approved a plan to create a walk of fame to honor people in the entertainment industry.

Hundreds of granite tiles will be installed in the sidewalks along Ventura Boulevard Ventura Boulevard is one of the primary east-west thouroughfares in the San Fernando Valley; as it was originally a part of the El Camino Real (the trail between Spanish missions), Ventura Boulevard is the oldest route in the San Fernando Valley. Group seeking to protect bird

MALIBU - A Malibu-based nature conservancy said Friday it had applied for an emergency permit to fence off the Hollywood by the Sea beach in Ventura County, where an endangered Western snowy plover is nesting.

One fence has already been built around the rare bird's nest, but the agency wants to build a second fence to keep beachgoers from scaring the snowy plover away.

The snowy plover was declared endangered in March 1993.

Last year, 1,379 plovers were counted in California, including 233 in Ventura County. None was reported in Los Angeles County.

Officials identify victim of crash

Blaze breaks out behind strip mall

Firefighters knocked down a brush fire burning behind a Santa Clarita strip mall Friday night.
