of a van parked at I's Pit Stop, 470 E. Palmdale Blvd. The fire spread to the business, and deputies closed westbound Palmdale Boulevard for 10 minutes when flames got too close to the gas pumps.

``We had to block traffic in case of an explosion,'' said fire Inspector Mike Brown. ``We had it out pretty quickly and reopened lanes as soon as it was safe.''

Damage estimates were not yet available. The cause of the fire had not been determined.
