WOODLAND HILLS - Unova Inc. on Tuesday named Robert T. Smith president of its Detroit-based Industrial Automation Systems segment, comprised of all Lamb, Cincinnati Machine and Landis divisions worldwide.

Smith, 56, will report to Unova Chairman and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Larry D. Brady.

Homestore names Unruh to its board

WESTLAKE VILLAGE - Homestore Inc. announced Tuesday the appointment of Paul Unruh to its board, which increases the number of independent directors to six and total members to eight.

Unruh also joined Homestore's Audit Committee.

Unruh spent 25 years at Bechtel, a global engineering and construction services organization. Prior to his retirement in 2002, he was vice chairman of Bechtel Group Inc.

Prior to joining Bechtel, Unruh spent seven years at PricewaterhouseCoopers as an audit manager.

Former Eron exec arrested over ploy

SAN FRANCISCO - Federal authorities on Tuesday arrested a third former Enron executive suspected of manipulating California's energy market, leading to rolling blackouts across the state two years ago.

Big Three truck sales up for May

Ford's light truck sales rose 1.8 percent last month, but total volume for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury brands fell 5.7 percent because of an 18.4 percent decline in car sales.

Chrysler's results were more balanced, but negative nonetheless: car sales were down 5 percent, truck sales were off 2.7 percent. Total volume fell 3.3 percent.

WorldCom seeks more time for plan

WASHINGTON - WorldCom Inc. has filed a request with the bankruptcy court bankruptcy court n. the specialized Federal court in which bankruptcy matters under the Federal Bankruptcy Act are conducted. The U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan, which is overseeing WorldCom's Chapter 11 case, will consider the request, made earlier this week, at a hearing June 10.

The court recently approved the disclosure statement to WorldCom's Chapter 11 reorganization plan and established a vote-solicitation period beginning June 13 and ending Aug. 12. After June 16, other parties would be able to file competing plans for the company under the prior order.

A hearing to consider confirmation of the plan is slated for Aug. 25.
