BRIEFLY UCLA PROGRAM DIRECTOR ARRESTED.


The director of the Willed Body Program at the University of California, Los Angeles UCLA comprises the College of Letters and Science (the primary undergraduate college), seven professional schools, and five professional Health Science schools. Since 2001, UCLA has enrolled over 33,000 total students, and that number is steadily rising. , has been arrested as part of an investigation by the UC Police Department, the university said Saturday.

Director Henry Reid was one of two employees placed on leave while authorities investigate whether they stole and sold body parts from cadavers donated to UCLA's medical school, the university said.

Car crashes into restaurant; 4 hurt

VAN NUYS - Four people were injured Saturday - two critically - when a car crashed into a Mexican restaurant after colliding with another car at an intersection, a fire spokesman said.

Driver dies after car's crash, fire

GLENDALE - A 25-year-old woman died Saturday after her car went off the transition road of the southbound Glendale Freeway The Glendale Freeway is a minor freeway in the Los Angeles, California, USA, metropolitan area. It runs from Glendale Boulevard in the Echo Park district of Los Angeles to Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada Flintridge. Throughout its length, it is signed as California State Route 2.  and plunged 75 feet onto Glenoaks Boulevard below, where the car burst into flames, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Officials pronounced the victim dead at the scene around 3:30 a.m.

It appeared her car was out of control before the crash, officials said.

The woman was the only one in the car, a 2000 Toyota Camry.

NoHo High wins Science Olympiad

North Hollywood High School North Hollywood High School, originally called Lankershim High School when it opened in 1927, is a secondary school in North Hollywood in Los Angeles, California. The school mascot is the husky, and the school colors are blue, white, grey.  students finished first Saturday among about 1,300 students participating in the 18th Los Angeles County Science Olympiad at Cal Poly Pomona.

The competition consisted of 23 individual and team science events in such subjects as astronomy, cell biology, chemistry and forestry. The top three teams in the middle and high school divisions will continue to the Southern California state competition May 1, also at the university.
