    Two robberies latest in spree

SIMI VALLEY - A man waving a pistol held up two Simi Valley businesses Sunday during what is believed to be an east Ventura County robbery spree, police reported.

At 3:16 p.m., a man with a handgun demanded money from a clerk at Wherehouse Music at 2888 Cochran St. When the clerk refused, the robber fled, according to Simi Valley police Lt. Ken Tacke.

Five minutes later, he robbed a Longs Drugs, 3935 Cochran St., netting a small amount of cash and a bottle of liquor before escaping in a pickup, Tacke said. The armed robbery appears to be related to four others in Thousand Oaks on Thursday and Friday.

Police did not furnish a description of the robber.
