BRIEFLY TRAUMA NETWORK GETS A REPRIEVE.

Five of the county's 13 hospitals that provide trauma care to people severely injured in accidents, stabbings and shootings have threatened to close down by the end of the month.

The hospitals included Northridge Hospital and Providence Holy Cross medical centers and Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.

The board also directed the health department to seek state legislation to ensure the long-term survival of the network.

Stalker sentenced to 3 years in jail

VAN NUYS - A Burbank man convicted of stalking and threatening an ex- girlfriend who rejected his marriage proposal was sentenced today to three years in county jail.

A jury last week convicted Ketchoyan of nine counts of violating a domestic violence protective order, three counts of vandalism, two counts of making threatening telephone calls and one count each of threatening to kill, stalking and domestic battery.

Ketchoyan, whose whereabouts have been electronically monitored since his conviction, was immediately taken into custody to begin serving his jail time.

The crimes occurred after the 37-year-old North Hollywood resident rejected Ketchoyan's marriage proposal and ended their three-month relationship in February, said Deputy City Attorney Maureen Rodriguez.
