VAN NUYS - Sprinklers are credited with containing a fire to one room on the third floor of a six-story office building in Van Nuys on Saturday, a fire spokesman said.

Firefighters were called to the California National Bank building at 14545 Victory Blvd. about 9:20 p.m., said Bob Collis of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The fire was contained to one room on the third floor, but firefighters encountered heavy smoke on the third floor and water cascading through various parts of the building, he said.

Eleven companies of firefighters contained the small amount of remaining fire shortly before 10 p.m., Collis said.

There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
