BRIEFLY THREAT SUSPECT GETS HOUSE ARREST.


SYLMAR - A 15-year-old sophomore accused of posting an Internet message threatening to shoot fellow students and set off bombs in the Birmingham High School Birmingham High School is a public coeducational high school in the neighborhood/district of Lake Balboa in the San Fernando Valley section of the city of Los Angeles, California. The school is a part of District One of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).  cafeteria was ordered released Friday on house arrest pending trial, authorities said.

7 judges added to Superior Court

Seven new Los Angeles County Superior Court judges were sworn in Friday by 2nd District Court of Appeal Justice Charles Vogel.

The new judges are William P. Berry, Fred J. Fujioka, Gerald Rosenberg, Jose I. Sandoval, Robert J. Sandoval, Barbara Scheper and William D. Stewart.

Van Nuys student pleads not guilty

VAN NUYS - A student at a Van Nuys continuation school pleaded not guilty Friday to charges that he threatened to bring a gun to school and shoot another student, authorities said.

Patrick Sweetin, 18, of North Hollywood was charged Friday with one misdemeanor count each of battery and making a terrorist threat.

Reagan daughter out of the hospital

SANTA MONICA - Maureen Reagan, the 60-year-old daughter of the former president, was released from the hospital on Friday after undergoing 3 1/2 months of treatment for skin cancer, officials said.

She had been expected to remain hospitalized through the end of April but made good progress and will continue drug therapy at home.

Five-hour sweep finds 15 truants

CHATSWORTH - Police issued citations Friday to 15 teen-agers who were off campus during a routine five-hour truancy sweep around Chatsworth High School and ordered the young people to appear with their parents before a juvenile court commissioner, authorities said.
