A man who led a ring that stole the credit card numbers of Valley-area restaurant patrons was sentenced Monday to six months of home detention, fined $25,000 and ordered to make about $54,000 in restitution.

Cluttered house damaged by fire

CHATSWORTH - A house whose occupant stuffed it with miscellany - pack-rat style - was severely damaged early Monday when a log rolled out of a fireplace and ignited carpet and furniture, firefighters said.

Gunfire wounds 2 men in Pacoima

PACOIMA - Two men were wounded in a shooting in Pacoima, police said Monday.

The men were in the 12000 block of Corcoran Street when they were shot about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, said Lt. Kelly Mulldorfer of the Los Angeles Police Department's Foothill station.
