BB gun shootings result in 3 arrests

VAN NUYS - One juvenile was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon Assault with a Deadly Weapon is the term used to describe the act of threatening to harm one or more people by using a weapon (usually a firearm). Here, assault must be differentiated from battery as they are often confused. Assault is threatening to use force.  after a pellet or BB struck and injured a man, police said Wednesday.

Two others in another part of Van Nuys were arrested after firing BBs at a construction site, including a portable toilet with a worker inside, said LAPD 1. LAPD - Link Access Procedure on the D channel.

Police were dispatched to the apparently unrelated incidents about 10:55 a.m. Wednesday.

The victim in the one attack was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

Airport official to begin Monday

BURBANK - David C. Miller, general manager of Mercury Air Center, will start work Monday as director of administrative services for Burbank Airport.

Miller, 55, of Encino, previously worked for fixed-base operations facilities in Los Angeles and Houston.

Bill would expand wildlife 'corridor'

The House of Representatives on Wednesday approved a proposal to add 3,700 acres of donated and public lands to the Santa Monica Mountains The Santa Monica Mountains are a low transverse range in southern California in the United States. Geography
They run for approximately 40 mi (64 km) east-west from the Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles to Point Mugu in Ventura County.

If signed into law, the bill - introduced by Reps. Elton Gallegly, R- Oxnard, and Brad Sherman, D-Woodland Hills - would protect a wildlife ``corridor'' between the Simi Hills and Santa Monica Mountains.
