BRIEFLY TEEN WHO DIED IN CRASH NAMED.


CANOGA PARK - A teen who died in a car crash on the way to the beach with friends was identified as an 18-year-old from Canoga Park, authorities said Saturday.

Oscar Valdez was driving a Honda in a group of three to four cars headed to the beach at 10:45 a.m. Friday on Las Virgenes Road near Los Hills Road, authorities said. One vehicle clipped another, sending the Honda out of control and into a pole, authorities said.

Valdez died at the scene, authorities said. No other injuries were reported.

Reseda gardener wins lottery prize

SACRAMENTO - A gardener from Reseda won $92,500 in the California Lottery's ``Big Spin'' game broadcast Saturday.

 will hold a community meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday to discuss plans for a new West Valley Division station to be built on the site of the existing station.

The project architect will be on hand to discuss building plans. An artist's rendering of the proposed building and a 3-D model will be available for viewing, as well as plans for a temporary station to be used during construction.

The meeting is scheduled for the auditorium at Reseda High School Reseda High School, established in 1955, is located in the Reseda section of Los Angeles, California, United States.

Man charged with string of crimes

Two men injured while pushing car

PANORAMA CITY - Two men were injured early Saturday when a disabled vehicle they were pushing was rammed by a hit-and-run driver, police said.

A woman was steering the disabled Toyota and two men were pushing it from behind at 12:30 a.m. in the 14000 block of Roscoe Boulevard, when the men were hit by a Hyundai, police said. The Hyundai's male driver and a passenger then jumped out of the vehicle and ran off.

One of the men was pinned between the Toyota and the Hyundai, and taken to a hospital. He was in stable condition. The other man sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The woman was uninjured.

NORTHRIDGE - Residents can drop off unwanted clothing and household items during a donation drive later this month sponsored by California State University, Northridge CSUN offers a variety of programs leading to bachelor's degrees in 61 fields and master's degrees in 42 fields. The university has over 150,000 alumni. It's also home to a summer musical theater/theater program known as TADW (TeenAge Drama Workshop) that leads teenagers through an , and Goodwill Industries.

Goodwill can accept used books, blankets, bedspreads, clothing, toys, office supplies, computers and other small home appliances from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., May 22-24, at University Housing, 17950 Lassen St.

A Goodwill attendant will be on hand to issue receipts for tax purposes.
