Jump blues is a type of up-tempo blues music influenced by big band sound.
 bands will perform on Sunday as part of the Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  Concerts in the Parks series.

Lavay Smith & Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers will play at 6:30 p.m. at Central Park, 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road.

J.R.'s to feature show for children

After providing adults with comedy each weekend since opening two years ago in Valencia, J.R.'s Comedy Club will put on a show Saturday for the younger set, starring world-renowned magician Robert Baxt.

Children as young as 5 will enjoy the comedy and magic of Baxt as he pulls coins from their ears, turns some of them into budding magicians and does magic tricks right under their noses at the Family Matinee Comedy and Magic Show scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at J.R.'s, located inside Marie Callender's at 27630 The Old Road, Valencia.

Baxt, who has a law degree but is more at home on stage than in the courtroom, has appeared on ``America's Funniest People America's Funniest People is a TV show on ABC that ran from 1990 to 1994. It was hosted by Dave Coulier and Arleen Sorkin from 1990 to 1992. Tawny Kitaen replaced Sorkin in 1992. The announcer was Ernie Anderson. ,'' the ``Today'' show and PAX TV's ``Masters of Illusions.''
