BRIEFLY SUSPECTS CAUGHT AFTER BRIEF GUNFIRE.


PACOIMA - An intense search of a Pacoima neighborhood launched after police officers on patrol heard gunshots early Saturday led to the arrest of two suspects, Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  police said.

Apparently no one was injured by the gunfire, police said.

``We don't have any victims,'' said Los Angeles police Officer Jason Lee.

Officers were on routine patrol near Remick Avenue and Jouett Street when they heard gunshots about 3:30 a.m., Lee said.

Officers set up a perimeter and brought in at least one dog, a helicopter crew and a SWAT team to search for the shooter or shooters.

Two men subsequently were arrested on suspicion of negligently discharging a firearm, Lee said, but no firearms were recovered in connection with the incident.

A search for the weapon or weapons was continuing, Lee said. There were no reports of injuries.

Two shot, injured near Oxnard bar

OXNARD - Two men suffered moderate injuries Friday night when they were shot leaving an Oxnard bar, Oxnard Police reported.

The shooter fired and ran away, said police, who had not determined a reason for the attack.

The victims were walking out of the La Cascada bar on the 100 block of North Harrison when they were fired upon.

A 28-year-old victim was hit in the arm and torso. He drove himself to a local hospital and was listed in stable condition Saturday, police said. A 48-year-old victim was shot in the hip. He was treated at a local hospital and released.
