BRIEFLY SUPERVISORS SEEK FASTER TAX CREDITS.

With more than 3,000 children waiting to be adopted in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County, the Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to send letters to President George W. Bush and Congress supporting legislation that would provide tax credits for families adopting this year.

The existing adoption tax credit provisions approved in last year's federal tax relief bill do not take effect until 2003. As a result, some families who have waited years to complete an adoption may delay the adoption for another year in order to qualify for the increased tax credit.

The tax relief bill increased the income limit for qualifying for the full adoption tax credit from $75,000 to $150,000 and also increased the tax credit for adopting children with special needs from $6,000 to $10,000.
