BRIEFLY SUKKOT FESTIVITIES TO BEGIN AT NOON.

A Jewish holiday or Jewish Festival is a day or series of days observed by Jews as a holy or secular commemoration of an important event in Jewish history.

The sukkah is a temporary dwelling that Jews use during the holiday of Sukkot.
 Palooza,'' a decorating contest.

The holiday commemorates the 40 years Jewish people wandered the Sinai desert in search of the Promised Land and slept in huts.

Today, the hut is recreated as a ``sukkah.'' The decorated sukkahs also represent the harvest festival.

Richman to attend town hall meeting

SIMI VALLEY - Assemblyman Keith Richman, R-Granada Hills, will participate in a community town hall meeting 6 p.m. Tuesday in council chambers.

The forum will allow residents to express their concerns with the Assembly member on issues relating to the state budget, health care, energy and workers' compensation workers' compensation, payment by employers for some part of the cost of injuries, or in some cases of occupational diseases, received by employees in the course of their work.  crisis - among other things.

2 seniors named national scholars

MOORPARK - Two High School at Moorpark College seniors have been named National Merit Scholars.

Daniel A. Bledstein, 17, of Agoura and Hannah Glass, 17, of Westlake Village are both semifinalists in the scholarship program.

Students enter the National Merit Scholarship Program The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic scholarship competition for recognition and college scholarships administered by National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), a privately funded, not-for-profit organization. The program began in 1955.  by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Every year, about 1.3 million students enter the academic competition. Next year, the program will notify 8,200 finalists that they have been selected to receive a scholarship award for up to $2,500.

The High School at Moorpark College is home to 150 high school juniors and seniors countywide and from the west San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley
