 student was being held on suspicion of assaulting a female student in a girl's restroom on campus, police said Sunday.

Matthew David Randal allegedly grabbed the girl and hit her on her right side with his fist in the attack about 11:20 a.m. Thursday, officials said.

The suspect fled when the victim screamed, but he was found and arrested Saturday after police released a composite sketch, authorities said.

Randal was booked on suspicion of felony assault, Glendale police said.

Schools honored for achievement

SACRAMENTO - Four local schools that serve predominantly poor children will be among 24 statewide recognized Tuesday at the 17th annual Achieving Schools awards, state education officials announced Friday.

16 Simi students award finalists

Fay to be awarded patriotism prize

THOUSAND OAKS - Lt. L.J. Fay, named the 2001 Patriotic Citizen of the Year by the Conejo Valley Chapter of the Military Order of the World Wars, will receive the Patrick Henry Patriotism Medallion on June 16.

The presentation will take place during the 16th annual Red, White and Blue Ball honoring the U.S. Marine Corps in the Grand Ball Room at the Hyatt Westlake Plaza Hotel.

Gallegly staffer to take questions
