BRIEFLY SPORTS.Byline: The Register-Guard Canham on watch list for nation's top catcher CORVALLIS - Oregon State catcher Mitch Canham is on the watch list for the Coleman Company-Johnny Bench Award, given annually to the top catcher in NCAA Division I college baseball. The junior from Lake Stevens, Wash., is one of 27 catchers on the list. He's batting .382 with four home runs and 25 RBIs for the fourth-ranked Beavers (20-3), with a .618 slugging percentage and an on-base percentage of .517. Beavers inch up to fourth in USA poll CORVALLIS - Oregon State rode its nine-game winning streak up one slot to No. 4 in this week's USA Today/ESPN national baseball coaches poll. The Beavers (20-3) moved up two spots to No. 3 in the Collegiate Baseball newspaper poll, and one spot to No. 4 in the Baseball America magazine and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association polls. Zarrugh joins OSU staff as graduate assistant CORVALLIS - Adam Zarrugh, a 2003 Willamette High graduate and former Oregon State football player, has been named graduate assistant for administration by OSU coach Mike Riley. Zarrugh is completing his undergraduate work toward a degree in business administration. A reserve cornerback, he was a volunteer student assistant last year after an injury ended his playing career.
