BRIEFLY SOLICITORS BANNED FROM COUNTY AREAS.

Los Angeles County supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to ban door-to-door solicitors in the county's unincorporated areas between the hours of 8 p.m. and 8 a.m.

``People have a right to privacy in their homes,'' Supervisor Don Knabe said. ``This is an issue of safety for people. Solicitors in the unincorporated areas will not be allowed to sell door to door.''

The ordinance bans retail solicitors in unincorporated areas where more than 1 million people live. Retail sales for charitable purposes do not constitute a violation.
