GRANADA HILLS - A 13-year-old skateboarder was in critical condition Thursday after being hit by a car.

The boy skated out of a driveway and into the path of a car in the 16900 block of Dearborne Street about 7 p.m. when he was hit, authorities said.

He was flown by helicopter to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  with head injuries, said Los Angeles Fire Department The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), also known as the Los Angeles City Fire Department to distinguish it from the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Man to stand trial in triple killing

An Orange County man will stand trial for the January 2002 stabbing deaths of his ex-girlfriend and their two daughters at a Sun Valley home, a judge ruled Thursday.

Van Nuys Superior Court Judge Jessica Silvers found sufficient evidence for Julian Arturo Beltran, 28, of Anaheim, to be tried for the triple homicide, said Deputy District Attorney Andrea Thompson.

Record amount raised by expo

VAN NUYS - Last weekend's Van Nuys Airport's Aviation Expo raised a record $101,000 for local nonprofit youth and service organizations, organizers said Thursday.

More than 385,000 people turned out for the two-day event, the largest crowd in the airport's 40-year history of air shows, spokesman Richard French said.

Jazz festival to be held in Glendale

GLENDALE - The third annual Glendale Jazz Festival will be held from noon to 11 p.m. Saturday at Glendale Community College Glendale Community College can refer to one of two colleges in the United States.

The festival will feature six stages, six dance floors and 21 bands performing a variety of smooth jazz, Chicago blues and traditional Dixieland.

25 businesses to be in job fair

NORTHRIDGE - The Water & Power Community Credit Union will host a job fair Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 16840 Devonshire Blvd. in Northridge.

More than 25 businesses are expected to participate with representatives from Carl's Jr., Ross Dress for Less, Albertson's Grocery Stores, Shanaz Reality and American Office Products.

Motorist is killed by falling dresser

SYLMAR - A 21-year-old motorist was killed when his pickup truck hit a dresser that fell from another vehicle onto freeway and crashed through his windshield, authorities said Thursday.

Matthew Moat, of Kagel Canyon, died about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, an hour after his Toyota pickup truck hit the dresser on the eastbound Foothill Freeway near Yarnell Street, officials said.

Officials want to determine how fast Moat was driving. They also asked that anyone who saw the dresser fall call the CHP CHP Chapter

Officers to help prevent car thefts
