The first recall notice, which had sufficient valid signatures, was rejected by the City Clerk's Office two weeks ago because it asked for each signer's voter registration Voter registration is the requirement in some democracies for citizens to check in with some central registry before being allowed to vote in elections. An effort to get people to register is known as a voter registration drive. Centralized/compulsory vs.  address, rather than current address.

Officials said proponents must now publish the recall notice and draft the petition language for approval by the city clerk.

Briefings planned on airport study

BURBANK - The Burbank Airport Authority has scheduled a series of four meetings next week to brief the public on an airport-operations forecast drafted as part of a study on a proposed night curfew curfew [O.Fr.,=cover fire], originally a signal, such as the ringing of a bell, to damp the fire, extinguish all lights in the dwelling, and retire for the night. The custom originated as a precaution against fires and was common throughout Europe in the Middle Ages. .

The meetings are scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. at the following locations:

--Monday - Hilton Burbank, 2500 Hollywood Way.

--Tuesday - Beverly Garland's Holiday Inn, 4222 Vineland Ave., North Hollywood.

--Wednesday - Roscoe Elementary School elementary school: see school. , 10765 Strathern St., Sun Valley.

--Thursday - Hilton Glendale, 100 W. Glenoaks Blvd.

The draft forecast can be viewed online at www.burbankpart161.org or at libraries in Burbank, North Hollywood, Sherman Oaks, Sun Valley and Van Nuys, as well as central libraries in Glendale and Pasadena.

Armenian panel to start its work

GLENDALE - A new committee formed to develop ways to commemorate Armenian genocide and other cultural history will hold its first meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday.

The public meeting will be held in the second-floor conference room at Fire Station 21, 421 Oak St. For more information, call (818) 548-4844.
