BRIEFLY SENIOR PROJECT VOLUNTEERS SOUGHT.LANCASTER - Antelope Valley Union High School District is seeking volunteers to serve as judges who will listen to oral presentations given by students on their senior projects. About 300 people have so far signed up to serve as judges, but the district estimates it needs about 3,000. The presentations will be going on through the month of May at the six comprehensive high schools. Serving on a panel will require several hours of a person's time. Judges will hear students' presentations, which can last up to 10 minutes, have time to ask questions, and then score the students' work. Senior project presentations are scheduled at Palmdale High School from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 8 and 9; at Lancaster High School from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 21 and 22; at Highland High School from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. on May 23; at Antelope Valley High School from 6 to 9 p.m. on May 23 and 28; at Quartz Hill High School from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 28 and 30; and at Littlerock High School from 3 to 7 p.m. on May 29. To volunteer and for more information, call Anne Yale, the senior project coordinator for the district and Highland High School, at 538-0304 Ext. 145. The senior project is a graduation requirement this school year and requires researching a career topic, writing a paper and making a presentation before a panel. - Daily News |
