BRIEFLY SCV PURSUIT ENDS IN DRIVER'S ARREST.CASTAIC - An drunk-driving suspect tried to make his own way into the Vista Del Lago Visitors Center on Tuesday night, ending a pursuit by the California Highway Patrol, officials said. According to Officer Wendy Moore, officers attempted to stop Ronald Meyers, 46, of West Hills at 7:25 p.m. as he drove his 1995 Ford pickup truck southbound on Interstate 5 near Quail Lake Road. Meyers led officers in a short pursuit, leaving the freeway at the Vista Del Lago off-ramp and stopping briefly at the entrance of the visitor center, which overlooks Pyramid Lake Pyramid Lake, 188 sq mi (487 sq km), W Nev. The lake, a remnant of ancient Lake Lahontan, receives the Truckee River. Visited (1844) by U.S. explorer John Frémont, the lake was named for its large pyramidal rocks. It is located in the Pyramid Lake (Native American) reservation. In the lake is Anaho Island, a national wildlife refuge., before attempting to drive through the closed gate. Meyers was taken into custody. CHP officers said a background check revealed several prior arrests for driving under the influence driving under the influence (DUI) n. commonly called "drunk driving," it refers to operating a motor vehicle while one's blood alcohol content is above the legal limit set by statute, which supposedly is the level at which a person cannot drive safely. State statutes vary as to what that level is, but it ranges from .08 to .10..
