BRIEFLY SCOOTER SAFETY GOAL OF SIMI VALLEY FAIR.

Sponsored by Safe Moves, the Scooter Safety Jam will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the library, 40 Presidential Drive. Admission is free, and the first 1,000 youngsters will receive a safety helmet.

A barbecue lunch will be available for $5, with proceeds going to the Reagan Foundation's Presidential Learning Center.

Teen arrested after incident in Reseda

RESEDA - A teen was quickly arrested Friday after allegedly walking into a day care center a block from a police station, pushing a baby sitter and a 6-year-old aside, then going upstairs and rifling through some drawers.

It all started about 3 p.m. in the 19000 block of Archwood Street in Reseda, said Lt. Tom Smart of the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Police Department's West Valley Station.

``He got into the apartment through the rear garden sliding door, and asked for a Mr. Walter,'' Smart said. ``There was no Mr. Walter.''

A police officer at the scene said the 17-year-old suspect was in custody within about two minutes.

Council, mayoral election forum held

SIMI VALLEY - The Chamber of Commerce is hosting an election forum for mayoral and City Council candidates, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, moderated by state Sen. Cathie Wright.

Library materials reused in project

Windows, shelves and bricks from deteriorating libraries throughout the city will be saved and reused in new libraries, under a $100,000 project the Board of Public Works public works
