In the first game, Saugus beat Royal High School, also of Simi Valley. Ashley Arnett hit a three-run home run and Allie Haynex, Megan Mattivi and Lauren Balderama had hits. Pitcher Nikki Nichols struck out eight.

Against Diamond Bar, Nichols tripled and knocked in two runs. Arnett struck out nine, leading to the 6-1 win.

Saugus later beat Rio Mesa 5-0. In the final game, Nichols and Arnett combined with 10 strike-outs. Nichols also singled, Balderama doubled and Haynes contributed an RBI RBI

Basketball play registration now

 scheduled to begin play in May. The cost is $200 per team, plus $23 per game for officials and scorekeepers. A coaches meeting will be held April 24. For information, call the complex at (661) 775-8865.

Weight room work to begin in April

Construction will begin this month on the long-awaited expansion of the weight room at Saugus High School. The project, needed to meet the demands of a growing student population, is being financed by $184,900 in developer fees.

Students in various athletic programs use the weight room year around. Completion of the Saugus High project will bring all of the district's high school weight rooms up to current standards.

Expanded weight training facilities have been completed at Canyon and Valencia high schools and a new weight room was part of the new gymnasium built at Hart in 1996.

The work will take up to six months, with school officials hoping the project will be finished by the start of the next school year.

Master's College History
The Master's College was founded as Los Angeles Baptist Theological Seminary on May 25, 1927 to meet the need for a fundamental Baptist school on the West Coast.

NEWHALL - The Master's College will hold a series of basketball summer camps for players 7 to 15.

The sessions will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 24-27, July 8-11, and July 15-18. The cost is $185.

Dodger outing set for this Saturday

Tickets are available for Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  Dodger Night this Saturday, when Los Angeles takes on the San Diego Padres. Tickets are $10, and proceeds will benefit various charities. They are available at City Hall, 23920 Valencia Blvd.
