BRIEFLY ROOSEVELT TEACHER NOMINEE FOR AWARD.


BURBANK - Mary Brewer has been tapped as the Burbank Unified School District's representative to the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County Office of Education L.A. County Teacher of the Year 2001 competition, officials said.

 was recently notified that she is one of the semifinalists in the county competition.

Brewer has been a teacher for 21 years, with 15 of them in Burbank schools, said Irene Stambolos, principal at Roosevelt Elementary.

``She is a teacher who is extremely talented,'' Stambolos said. ``She's one of the most dedicated, hard-working, self-motivated teachers I've ever worked with.''
