BARSTOW, Calif. - Six people died Saturday after their sport utility vehicle rolled over on Interstate 15, authorities said.

The Ford Explorer is a mid-size sport utility vehicle sold in North America and built by the Ford Motor Company since 1990.

It was not known whether any other vehicles were involved. The California Highway Patrol was investigating the cause of the crash.

Truck driver killed in crash and fire

GORMAN - A tractor-trailer driver was killed early Saturday when he drove off the road, crashed and was trapped inside the burning cab, the California Highway Patrol said.

Cal State receives nearly $2 million

Free conferences set for caregivers

WOODLAND HILLS - Two free conferences for family caregivers, with topics on family meetings, talking to physicians and legal and financial workshops, are being held this week, sponsored by the Los Angeles City Department of Aging.

Tuesday's meeting is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Warner Center Marriott, 21850 Oxnard St., Woodland Hills.

Wednesday's meeting, with the same topics, will be held 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the University of Southern California The U.S. News & World Report ranked USC 27th among all universities in the United States in its 2008 ranking of "America's Best Colleges", also designating it as one of the "most selective universities" for admitting 8,634 of the almost 34,000 who applied for freshman admission , Davidson Conference Center, 3415 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles.
