Hair, a 21-year-old Littlerock resident, was hit by a vehicle about 9 p.m. Nov. 30 when she stopped on Avenue O near 155th Street East to rescue a stray cat in the road. The vehicle kept going after killing Hair and the cat.

From broken vehicle parts found at the scene, investigators concluded Hair was hit by a 1994 to 1997 Chevrolet full-size pickup truck or Suburban.

Hair had been on her way home from studying at a friend's home, her family said. She was described by her family as an animal lover, who could not turn away an injured or abandoned animal. She had three dogs, two cats and a potbellied pig potbellied pig

'CHiPs' collecting toys for children

PALMDALE - The California Highway Patrol's CHiPs for Kids toy drive kicks off today at the Antelope Valley Mall The Antelope Valley Mall is an enclosed shopping mall in Palmdale, California.

Teen suspected of armed robbery

LANCASTER - A 16-year-old Lancaster boy was arrested Friday on suspicion of robbing a liquor store at gunpoint and threatening to shoot the clerk, officials said.

A 30-minute search led to the arrest of the teen after a 10:40 a.m. robbery at the Town Liquor store in the 600 block of East Avenue K, deputies said. Deputies said they found him in the yard of a home in a nearby neighborhood.

Deputies said the boy had a .25-caliber handgun, $700 in cash and a $250 check stolen from the liquor store.
