BRIEFLY PROBE CONTINUES IN WOMAN'S DEATH.


GLENDALE - Police on Monday continued to investigate the death of a woman found shot inside the home of a Glendale man on Sunday.

Police responded to the 1500 block of Cleveland Road at 5:53 p.m. Sunday after receiving a 911 call that a man had shot a woman. When they entered the home, they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her upper body, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman was not a resident of the home, but Svelund was, Chang said.

This is Glendale's third homicide homicide (hŏm`əsīd), in law, the taking of human life. Homicides that are neither justifiable nor excusable are considered crimes. A criminal homicide committed with malice is known as murder, otherwise it is called manslaughter.  this year, Chang said.

GLENDALE - Police issued more than 120 citations in Glendale as a result of a crackdown to ensure pedestrian safety.

This is the second time in less than a month that a traffic task force has come down hard on various traffic violations as a way to promote pedestrian safety, said Glendale police spokeswoman Leticia Chang.

More than 60 of the citations were issued to pedestrians for various violations, including jaywalking jay·walk

Ticket sales boom at new AMC-16

BURBANK - This past weekend's opening of the AMC-16 Theatre in downtown Burbank drew enough movie watchers to place ticket sales in the top 10 of all AMCs nationwide, officials said.

The new theater, which officially opened to the public on Friday, drew thousands to see ``The Hulk'' among other films, said Rick King, spokesman for AMC (Advanced Mezzanine Card) See AdvancedTCA. .

Meanwhile, crews were busy on Monday removing fixtures from the older 14-screen AMC, just across from the new one, to make way for more retail shops, King said.

'Sinbad' to start free outdoor show

BURBANK - Last year's Outdoor Picture Show returns to Burbank on Wednesday, opening its eight-week run with a sneak peek of DreamWorks' newest animation ``Sinbad and the Seven Seas.''

The free, weekly event, hosted by the city, IKEA IKEA Ingvar Kamprad Elmtaryd Agunnaryd (Swedish home furnishings retailer founder's initials and location) , and Media City Center among other sponsors, drew about 2,000 people last year. Organizers plan to add more seating at the IKEA courtyard this year, where films are projected on a 20-by-16-foot screen.

Live entertainment, food samples, and giveaways will be part of Wednesday's opening event.

Other films to be screened include ``Men in Black,'' on July 2, ``Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone,'' on July 9, ``Chicken Run'' on July 16, ``Footloose foot·loose
