BRIEFLY POLICE SEEK LEADS IN TWO SHOOTINGS.


VAN NUYS - Police sought leads Saturday in two gang-related yet unconnected drive-by shootings in Van Nuys neighborhoods that occurred about 30 minutes apart Friday and left two teenage boys wounded, officials said.

``Our gang unit is out there, trying to track down some leads,'' said Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  police Sgt. One teen was treated for slight wounds to his hand and chest from a shooting at Vanowen Street and Havenhurst Avenue shortly before 10 p.m. Friday, Wong said.

In the other shooting, a bullet pierced the calf of a second teenager in the 70400 block of Hazeltine Avenue about 10:30 p.m., Wong said. Witnesses told police the gunman was in a dark-colored car.

The teens were recovering Saturday, Wong said.

Boy suffers burns in fire at home

 on the hands in a fire Saturday at a Santa Clarita home, authorities said.

The blaze in the two-story home at 27019 Mirasol Street in Valencia was reported at 9:38 a.m., said Los Angeles County fire Capt. Mark Savage.

The flames were extinguished about 20 minutes later, Savage said.

The child was taken to Henry Mayo Newall Medical Center before being transported to the Sherman Oaks Burn Center, he said.

Damage was estimated at $200,000, said supervising fire dispatcher Software that determines what pending tasks should be done next and assigns the available resources to accomplish it. It may execute other programs or generate a list for human operators to follow. See scheduler.  Dan Opbroek.

A cause of the fire was under investigation, Savage said.

Man in vehicle dies after attack

Police Saturday investigated the fatal shooting of a 25- year-old man, an officer said.

Brandon Marquis Randle was sitting in his vehicle at the southwest corner of 65th and Figueroa streets about 9:20 a.m. Friday when an ``unknown number of suspects approached him and shot him,'' said Officer Renee Montoya of the Los Angeles Police Department "LAPD" and "L.A.P.D." redirect here. Authorities believe the shooting was gang-related, Montoya said.
